Baby Gus, 2 1/2 weeks old

CL Above, is our most recent photo of Laura, Chris, Rex, David, and Daniel, taken around Thanksgiving time of 2006.  As you can see, Laura is surrounded by many gorgeous males, all who she considers to be her "babies," including the four-legged, furry one in the center!!  (That would be Gus, of course!)

To the left, during one of their visits to get aquainted with their "new baby," Laura is holding Black Boy (baby Gus) with Daniel looking on.  Gus was almost 6 weeks old at this time.  Laura was the first one to be able to pick out her puppy from this litter.

Below explains how Laura became the founder of the
 LAURA   LAW
and how it came into existance and why there is a waiting list at all for our puppies.
Please review her breeder endorsement as well.

Laura, a smart business woman and extremely busy mother of four boys, was the very first person to ever contact me about a Heritage Hearth puppy.  She had done ample research on the mastiff breed and then began her search for a mastiff breeder.  She contacted me well over a month before I ever bred my first litter.  We communicated for a while and then she announced that after all her research of both the breed and breeders, she had made her final decision that Heritage Hearth Mastiffs and I, were her final choice.

I was flattered and told her I was planning to breed Hedy and to watch our website for future announcements on the possible arrival of puppies.  I further explained to her, "As soon as we have puppies available, you should get your Puppy Application and deposit sent in to reserve one of the pups."

Laura kind of chuckled telling me that this just wouldn't work for her.  She then patiently explained that having to monitor my website on a daily basis before she could send in her Application and deposit to be able to reserve a puppy was impossible for her, as it probably was for many others who wanted a puppy.  She said, "A better method, one that would be fair to us all, would be for us to reserve a puppy from one of your litters on a "first come, first served basis."  She further explained that she would be sending me a check for deposit and that I could cash it, or hold it, but that she wanted to be sure she had established a position on my list to be able to select a pup from an upcoming Heritage Hearth litter when one becomes available.

Laura's business plan made perfect sense to me and thus the Laura Law was borne and became our policy for all our litters.
