The surgery begins, with a pile of warm cloths ready to wrap each puppy in. Below, the doctor reaches in one of the horns and pulls out a pup.   (Canines have two "horns" rather than one uterus like humans.)  She quickly clamps him off and hands him to the vet tech waiting just outside.  XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX	C

Both horns are double-checked to see if there are any pups hiding.  All pups are out, and Maggie's doctor finishes her surgery. As you all know from previous updates to our website, we were expecting 8 pups.  Our vet found an eighth sack from a puppy that had been reabsorbed.  We were sad, but accepted this as part of this whole beautiful process.
